New Years: The BitTitan Way
In 46 B.C., Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar, named it after himself, and moved the official first day of the year to January 1. That doesn’t mean everyone went along with his edict. During the Middle Ages, some European countries started the year on various religious days. Orthodox communities kept with the Julian calendar after it was replaced in 1582 with the Gregorian calendar. They’ll celebrate New Years on January 14 this year. And Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, begins with the first new moon of the year. That’s February 10 in 2024. All this is to say: Happy New Year! However you celebrate it.
