We built MigrationWiz to handle all types and sizes of migration projects. It’s fast and easy for standard data and mailbox migrations; full-featured and customizable for more complex scenarios. Our MigrationWiz Master Class series introduces you to options and techniques that will boost your expertise so you can deliver a smooth migration every time.

Google Gmail to Exchange Online Migrations: Choose Your Adventure

There’s more than one way to migrate mailboxes. With MigrationWiz you have three options for migrating Gmail to Microsoft 365. How you migrate will depend on whether the Gmail API is enabled. Having options allows you to get the migration done regardless of which scenario you’re facing. Here’s what you need to know:

Can I use MigrationWiz to migrate between Google and Microsoft?

Yes! Here you’ll learn about migrating mailboxes. There’s another Master Class with information about document migrations.

What are the options?

If you need to move mailboxes from Google to Microsoft 365, you can use MigrationWiz to migrate in one of three ways: Using the Gmail API, or by using IMAP to either Microsoft 365 or Hosted Exchange.

When will I use them?

You can use the Gmail API for your migration if APIs are enabled on your tenant service account. Otherwise, you can migrate using IMAP.

How do I learn to use these options?

BitTitan has detailed migration guides that will walk you through each scenario. These links will take you to details on migrating with the Gmail API, IMAP to Microsoft 365, or IMAP to Hosted Exchange. You can also review FAQs here.

Is there anything else I should know?

  • As you review the migration guides, you’ll find that not all items will migrate, and some of the items will vary by endpoint. As you’re planning your migration, check the guide to verify migrated items.
  • Migrating from G Suite to another platform will require some attention when it comes to mapping and labels. Check the FAQs for more information.
  • MigrationWiz only migrates calendars owned by the user, even though G Suite supports calendar sharing. You’ll want users to be aware that conference room calendars will not be migrated in most cases.
  • Contacts may also behave differently between environments.
